How Does the NE (BE) Series Exciter Handle High-Tonnage Screening?

The NE (BE) series vibrating screen exciter is a gear-driven, dual-shaft mechanism that converts motor rotation into linear or circular vibration. Its core specification—centrifugal force from 20 kN to 120 kN—dictates the maximum material load and screen size it can drive. For example, a single NE-90 exciter producing 90 kN at 1000 rpm can power a 3.0 m × 7.3 m double-deck screen with a 10 mm stroke, handling up to 800 t/h of crushed granite. The exciter uses two counter-rotating shafts, each fitted with adjustable eccentric weights. Helical gears (module 4, 20CrMnTi, case-hardened to HRC 58-62) synchronize the shafts, eliminating belt slippage and timing errors common in belt-driven exciters. Bearings are spherical roller type (22320 EK, C3 clearance) with a basic dynamic load rating of 680 kN, giving an L10 life exceeding 20,000 hours under continuous 24/7 operation. The housing is HT250 cast iron, stress-relieved before machining, with bearing bores finished to H7 tolerance and coaxial within 0.03 mm. Oil-bath lubrication (ISO VG 220) is standard, with an optional grease system for ambient temperatures above 40°C. This exciter is not a universal fit; it requires a screen frame with a machined mounting pad and a minimum 12 mm thick flange. Typical installations include primary jaw crusher discharge screens, cone crusher closed-circuit screens, and coal desliming screens in preparation plants.
In mining and quarrying, the NE (BE) series solves three specific pain points: unpredictable stroke loss, short bearing life, and difficult force adjustment. Stroke loss occurs when eccentric weights slip or gears wear; the NE (BE) series uses keyed and bolted weight segments (not set screws) that maintain radial position within 0.1 mm after 5000 hours. Bearing life is extended by a 3-stage labyrinth seal with a grease purge port, keeping dust ingress below 0.01 g per 1000 hours in silica dust environments. Force adjustment is done by adding or removing weight plates—each plate adds 5 kN of centrifugal force—without removing the exciter from the screen. For a 2.4 m × 6.0 m screen in a limestone quarry, two NE-60 exciters (60 kN each) produce a 9 mm stroke at 900 rpm, matching a 30 kW motor. The same screen with NE-90 exciters would require a 45 kW motor and a reinforced frame. This exciter is not for portable or mobile screens; its 180 kg mass and rigid mounting requirement make it suitable only for stationary installations with concrete or heavy steel foundations.
Compared to other exciters in the NE (BE) family, the mid-range NE-60 and NE-90 models offer the best balance of force density and bearing life. The NE-30 (30 kN) is for smaller 1.8 m × 4.8 m screens with 6 mm stroke, while the NE-120 (120 kN) is for 3.6 m × 8.0 m banana screens with 12 mm stroke. The NE-60 and NE-90 share the same 22320 bearing set and gear module, so spare parts are interchangeable. However, the NE-90 uses a larger eccentric weight (12 kg vs. 8 kg) and a thicker shaft (90 mm vs. 75 mm journal diameter). This means the NE-90 can handle 50% more dynamic load but requires a 1.5× larger oil sump. For a quarry running 16 hours per day, the NE-90’s 2000-hour oil change interval translates to a service stop every 125 days, versus 100 days for the NE-60. The NE (BE) series also offers an optional vibration sensor port (M12 × 1.5) for continuous stroke monitoring, which is not available on the smaller NE-30. If your screen operates above 1200 rpm or in temperatures below -10°C, specify the high-speed bearing option (brass cage, C4 clearance) and synthetic oil (PAO-based).
- Force output from 20 kN to 120 kN, verified by static calibration at 1.25× rated speed; each unit ships with a test certificate showing actual force within ±3%.
- Helical gears (20CrMnTi, HRC 58-62) and spherical roller bearings (22320 EK, C3) give an L10 life above 20,000 hours at 1000 rpm and 90 kN.
- Oil-bath lubrication with sight glass and magnetic drain plug; 2000-hour service interval under 40°C ambient, 1000 hours above 40°C.
- Modular eccentric weights (5 kN per plate) allow force adjustment in 5 kN increments without removing the exciter from the screen frame.
